I've Been Junking AGAIN!!

Well, really what do you expect from someone who collects "Heads" in a jar?  And "NO" Iam really not obsessed with body pieces parts, although, come to think about it, I do have a collection of them!  LOL!!!!
I just found the wool pink hat today at one junk store, the ruffled fabric is a vintage apron, also found today at a different junk shop, the manneqin hand from e-bay, and the "jewels" I already had.  I just slung it all together!  I think I like it!  Rhonda

Thrift Store Bamboo Basket and Goodies

I found this bamboo basket at Goodwill the other day for 2.99, painted it white and arranged it with several larger shells, coral, starfish and white hydrangeas.  I first filled the bottom with packing peanuts for some height, and then arranged the stuff.  I think it looks light, airy, and beachy.

Old Horseshoe Make Over

I found this old horseshoe in my stash of junk and decided to do something with it.  I first sanded most of the rust off and washed it real good, let it dry, and then sprayed it with my trusty spray paint, Krylon Ocean Blue, I think thats the name of it.  After it dryed, I wrapped it with silver ribbon, making sure I had enough to make a handle.  I then added some small white silk roses and glass beads in the same color blue, a silver heart button cover and a cute little dragonfly.  The dangle's are strung together with a little fishing line, then I added the big creamy rose.  It still has 2 old nails stuck on it.  Now thats some cute junk!!

Embellished Vintage Bottles/SHOW AND TELL

I saw the most amazing Rhinestone encrusted bottles..and their prices...:(  I would never pay the price, but, would so love to have one!   So, I decided to pull out my "Make Do" skills and go for it.  The bottle on the left is simply covered in teeny tiny clear beads, seqwines (SP) around the top and all sizes of blue "stones" stuck on in a random order.  The other is literally wrapped around and round with a sparkly seaqined (SP), glitter and small clear stone garland.  I did wrap 2 short lenghts of rhinestones around the top and bottom. Not what I really wanted, but, I'll do for now!  I also have shown my bottles at My Cottage Charm's Treasure and Trinkets.  Thanks!    Rhonda

MY MADE OVER WHITE CHANDELIER

Hi All!
I Found this already white chandelier at a local shop.  I had been looking for one of some sort to hang on my birdcage stand.  After I cleaned and rewired her (all by myself!) I hung her on the stand, which was already painted a nice chippy aqua color!!  She just really was not attractive at all, so, I dug out all of my clear prizms and just randomly hung them around, and I also had some beaded  pealish garland and draped it around the bottom.  She still needed something.  I came across  a clear beaded garland at Walmart in the wedding section and wrapped it all around the inside area to fill in the gaps.  She is Looking a lot better now!  I plug her in and almost went blind!  TOO bright!  She has 6 arms and with that comes 6 bulbs.  So, I had 6 beaded bulb covers that I bought on e-bay, put them on, and that finally finished her off, the covers also dim the brightness to a tolerable glow!  I think she'll do. (till I can afford a real one!)  You can't see them, :( but there are lots of leaves on there, I hung the prisms from them!!   Rhonda

MY JAR FULL OF MY GRANDMAS VINTAGE LACE

Well, yes, I did "borrow" the idea from the Fall/Winter Romantic Country 2009 magazine, but, FiFi, won't mind at all!!  Actually, mine is different, I added lace and ribbon and hydrangea's and white balls, tied vintage lace with a white ornament ball to the lid, I also added a vintage finger towel hanging on the side.....theirs has ribbon and some flowers.  Basically the same concept.  Pretty and "special" all the same.  I bought the 2 gallon jar at Walmart and I had the "rest of the story".  Thanks Yall!!  Rhonda

Look At What IFound!! Rhonda

Another cool find from my most favorite place :  e-bay!  They were billed as Christmas Ornaments, and, I did hang them on my tree, but they are so great!  The tussie/cone is actually hand painted oils and they are stuffed with vintage wax like fruit and nuts and fluffies!  What is even more amazing, is that I got them all (nine of them), for 99 cents! (plus shipping of course.)  This picture is not so good. :(

My Old Beaded Chandelier Shade full of Goodies!

As I was trolling through e-bay a while back before Christmas, I came across this old beaded chandelier shade, and I thought it would be perfect for display.  I paid, I think, 28.00 for it.  When it came in the mail, I filled it with a few white ornaments, a giant glass diamond thingie, a cherub that I had added german glittler to, a huge conch shell, (on the bottom), a small white crown, a couple of clock faces, a pair of angel wings, and just recently added the cherub shelf.   The Cherub shelf really isn't gonna stay there, but, I had just sanded and painted it, started to hang it up and got distracted, so there she sits.  I originally wanted to use a tabletop cemet birdbath, but opted for this nifty beaded shade.  When one of the Romantic Homes/Country magizines came out, there it was, they had used my shade, only filled theirs with ornaments.  Oh well, at least I know I had the idea first!!    Rhonda

My Fireplace Mantle Loaded!!

There is a little bit of everything on this mantle!  A statue of Diana the Moon Goddess2 Clocks, another statue that I encrusted with shells, cloche and spindells, a large Cherub clock that I got from thrift store for 2.00.  I added the works, 2 glass tall things??, mercury glass candle holder, and a couple of old bottles I tried to bling a little bit.  There also is a antique mirror leaning and 2 wall sconces.  I would feel naked, if it was any less!!    Thanks for visiting!  Rhonda

MY BIRDCAGE

I came across this baby at the consignment shop in my little town.  It actually was on lay-a-way for someone else.  Turns's out the person changed her mind about purchasing it, so, I bought it.  It was originally priced at $125.00, but, I was able to get it for $99.00, chippy paint and all!!  I made the big bow thingie for the top and hung a junk store chandie inside!  I change the stuff inside around alot.  Right now it has a few birdie statues inside. Sorry about the picture on its side,  I haven't learned how to rotate them yet!  Rhonda                  MY BIG OLE BIRDCAGE!!

ESTATE SALE/TABLE

Every First Full weekend of every month, Olde Mobile Antiques Gallery/Consignment Shop/Estate Sales, has their monthly estate sale. (That was a mouthful).  I have just recently started avidly going for the past 4 months.  I have found several lovely rose and floral china plates and saucers, some are now displayed in my Kitchen Hutch, which I blogged about a few days ago, with photos.  I had been watching a  wicker base with a wooden top for a while....I went this past month with the intentions of buying it, and of course it was gone.  So, I was so sad, and mad at myself for not getting it sooner, Ya snooze, Ya loose, is for real, let me tell ya.
Anyway, I took matters into my own hands and made one(sorta) myself for less than the orginal one cost.  I went to my local World of Wicker and bought a natural colored wicker console table.  It wasn't really what I wanted, so, undaunted, I purchased a piece of MDF at Lowes and had them cut it to my desired measurements, brought it all home and got busy.  I started by priming the wicker table, and then painted (spray) it using Valspar satin white paint.  O.K., so now its a little better, but not quite there yet.  I laid the cut MDF across an old chair and a ladder and sanded all around the edges until smooth.  MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is really smooth, so I did not sand the top and bottom surfaces.  I paint both sides, also with Valspar Paint, but, used enamel and brushed it on.  I took a couple of shots of the finished table. Sorta my version of a vintage Heywood Wakefield I found online for 1,250.00.
